New Digital Transformation Roadmap for Federal Agencies

The Federal Government has unveiled a comprehensive digital transformation strategy aimed at modernizing public service delivery across all ministries and agencies by 2028.

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has officially launched a multi-year Digital Transformation Roadmap that will reshape how federal agencies operate and deliver services to Nigerian citizens. The roadmap, which spans 2026 to 2028, identifies four critical pillars: digital skills development, process automation, data-driven governance, and citizen-centric service design. Each ministry has been assigned a Digital Transformation Officer (DTO) to coordinate implementation efforts. Key highlights from the roadmap include the mandatory digital literacy training for all Grade Level 6 and above officers before Q3 2026, the deployment of integrated workflow management systems across 36 federal ministries, and the creation of a centralized government data platform to eliminate duplication and improve policy decision-making. The Head of Civil Service emphasized that "the backbone of effective government in the 21st century is a workforce that is not just competent but digitally fluent." This initiative is supported by international development partners including the World Bank and UNDP. The Federal Civil Service Online Academy (FCSOA) has been designated as the primary training delivery platform for this initiative, with over 50 new digital skills courses scheduled for launch by end of the second quarter. Officers are encouraged to log in to their FCSOA accounts, check their assigned learning paths, and begin mandatory modules immediately to stay ahead of the compliance deadline.
